Koch Foods Attalla Feedmill Development

Koch Foods

In 2019, private food processing and distributing company Koch Foods expanded in the Southeast with one of the largest, most technologically advanced grain storage facilities in the world. The $55 million grain and distribution facility located in Attalla, Alabama supports the company’s nearby processing plant in Gadsden.

As part of the region’s growing agriculture industry, the property takes advantage of the area’s established transportation network. Utilizing a newly constructed rail spur loop at the facility helps the company save significantly on transportation costs. In addition to the feed mill structure, the facility includes silos, a loadout tunnel, ground storage tanks and a warehouse, and has the ability to hold more than 1 billion bushels of corn.

As the engineering consultant for the multi-phase project, CDG performed all site development services for the 130-acre site, including site design, geotechnical evaluations, subsurface exploration, environmental site assessment and topographic surveys. The grain storage and distribution facility is now operational.
