Brooks Engineering Merges with CDG, Inc.

On Monday, January 1, 2024, North Carolina-based consulting firm Brooks Engineering Associates, P.A. (“Brooks Engineering”) announced a merger with (Southeastern) civil engineering consulting firm CDG, Inc. (“CDG”).

With an office located in Asheville, North Carolina, Brooks Engineering has provided civil engineering, surveying, and environmental services for private developers, contractors, and architects throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, east Tennessee, northeast Georgia and southwest Virginia since the company’s founding in 2001.

Through this merger, CDG expands its geographic presence across the Southeast and grows the firm’s resources and professional capabilities. All 15 Brooks Engineering employees will integrate into CDG’s existing team of 175 professional, administrative, and technical staff members to provide expertise and insight on future projects.

According to Mark Pugh, President and CEO of CDG, the merging of the two firms is a noteworthy milestone in the history of each firm and furthers CDG’s efforts in expanding its services and becoming a regional firm.

“As a firm that has been a trusted guide and resource to our clients’ projects for decades, we are constantly seeking new opportunities to help driven leaders build the future,” Pugh said. “This merger allows us to combine the project teams and resources of CDG and Brooks Engineering, increasing the depth and breadth of services available to our clients. We are very excited for the future of CDG and the people we serve.”

Brooks Engineering President Mark Brooks expressed his enthusiasm for the merger and the increased opportunities it provides.

“Myself, the partners and employees of Brooks Engineering are very excited about the opportunity to merge with CDG. The merger will allow us to offer increased engineering and project management “horsepower” to all our clients though expanded services and CDG’s culture of project teamwork,” Brooks said. “It provides expanded growth and career opportunities for our younger employees and the opportunity for our more senior engineers to tackle more and bigger projects with the support needed. CDG is a growth-oriented company, and we are excited to be a part of CDG’s expansion in the Carolinas and Tennessee.”

Mark Brooks will continue to serve as a principal of the firm. Brooks Engineering’s partners John Kinnaird, Paul Sexton and Troy Shriver will continue to lead the civil engineering and surveying departments serving existing and future clients with the same professionalism and competency. Brooks Engineering will continue to serve existing and new clients under the CDG name effective immediately.
