
09 Jul Alison North selected as P&CMA scholarship recipient
Alison North, a graduate of Rehobeth High School, was selected as a recipient of a $2,000 scholarship from the Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama.
Each year the P&CMA Educational Foundation awards at least ten one-year scholarships of $2,000 each to full-time employees or the children of full-time employees of P&CMA member companies. North is the daughter of Jeremy North, a Sr. Construction Observer at CDG, a P&CMA member company.
Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic achievement, community involvement and extracurricular activities. North is a member of the National Honor Society and received the Academic Excellence Award for Earth and Space Science.
In addition to graduating on the honor court of her class, North was very involved in the Navy JROTC, serving as a four-year cadet and rising to the top rank, Commanding Officer, her senior year. She was named Cadet of the Year by her unit and the Houston County Chamber of Commerce. She was the NJROTC Area 8 #1 ranked cadet in Orienteering and advanced to compete in the NJROTC Orienteering National Championship in California. She was also a member of the NJROTC unit’s rifle team which placed second in the Wiregrass Rifle Conference.
The scholarship may be applied to educational expenses at any accredited, nonprofit college or university or technical institute in the United States. North will attend the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University on an Air Force ROTC scholarship and plans to major in Aerospace Engineering.
