Straughn High School
Client: Covington County
Board of Education
Location: Andalusia, Alabama

Synopsis:
The Covington County Board of Education hired CDG
Engineers & Associates, Inc., to provide geotechnical
engineering and construction materials testing services for
the new Straughn High School. The subsurface exploration
revealed the presence of low-consistency, upper soils in the
building areas. The depth and extent of the unsuitable
material was mapped to precisely define the limits of
remediation. The loose soils were removed and replaced with
high-strength, engineered fill allowing the structures to be
supported on conventional spread footings.
